Imagine driving up Pacific Coast Highway. You hit the left paddle shifter and drop down a gear as the car propels you forward. As you turn on the curves, the car hugs each curve like a baby hugs its mother when meeting a stranger. Finally, you have reached your destination. A cliff overlooking the ocean in Laguna Beach, CA. You step back, noticing the sun beaming off the cherry red paint job of your new 2015 Scion FR-S.
2015 Scion FR-SA few weeks earlier, I was invited to test the new IA and iM models. From there I was hooked. Now it was time to drive something purely designed for speed and performance. I wanted this time to drive a car made for speed and performance and that is when I was hooked up with a beautiful FR-S. At first glance, you notice the aggressive lines. The light beams off the curves on the hood. Crouch down and notice the 17” alloy wheels that comes standard. From that point, it is time to step inside this bad boy.
2015 Scion FR-SOnce you open the door, you notice the beautiful racing seats. Now I don’t consider myself a racer nor do I play one on the internet, but there is something primal that kicks in here. The interior is black with red stitching. Glance down to notice the metal sports pedal and aluminum scuff plates…this is going to be a fun ride.
I sit down, strap in and start this bad boy. I connect the blue tooth from the Pioneer standard display audio system. However, this time there will be no NPR or podcasts. It’s time to throw on my Kendrick Lamar Pandora station and get ready for action. As the bassline hits, I turn onto the 405 Freeway, turn the window down and hit the gas.
2015 Scion FR-SThere’s some real get up and go here with the 200 horsepower engine. The rear wheel drive gives me a boost to the point where I don’t realize how fast I’m going. I think I’m going 65 but holy crap it’s 90. Time to drop down a few mph. Needless to say; this car is a fun drive. Over the next few days, I proceed to drive throughout Orange County for over the next few days this car goes to San Diego then LA and then Laguna Beach.
The Male Standard Verdict
The Scion FR-S is a fun car to drive. It has a real fast get up and go. It’s definitely designed for a single person who wants to make some heads turn. There’s no fitting a car seat in this bad boy. The entertainment center has a cool touch screen and blue tooth compatibility. I chose to drive auto to try out the paddle shifting which is good. It’s a good car to take on a freeway. It definitely makes heads turn.
