Why I Don’t Wear Jackets Anymore

For a long time, I treated a jacket as a necessary inconvenience. You wear it for the first ten minutes of the day, then spend the next few hours carrying it, draping it over a chair, or tying it around your waist like you’re back in middle school. In mild weather, jackets solve one problem and create three more.

That changed when I started wearing the birddogs lined quarter zip.

The built-in liner does what a light jacket is supposed to do, without the bulk or commitment. It keeps you warm when the air is cool, then quickly adapts as temperatures rise. No overheating. No constant on-and-off routine. It flexes with the day instead of forcing you to plan around it.

That freedom matters more than it sounds. Jackets turn into baggage the moment you step inside. Quarter-zips aren’t usually warm enough to replace a jacket. This one is. The built-in liner adds real insulation, but still breathes once you’re moving or indoors. It’s comfortable on a morning walk, polished enough for work, and you’ll still want to keep it on when lounging at home.

The other thing you notice quickly is freedom. No stiffness. Just stretch, flexibility, and a clean silhouette that works anywhere a jacket would, minus the hassle.

Do I now need to clear out all the light jackets in my closet?

Thanks, birddogs, for making them obsolete.
