If there’s one thing Travis Kelce knows about his brother Jason, it’s this: he doesn’t wear underwear.
Yep, that’s right. Jason’s disdain for underwear has been the subject of many conversations on the brothers’ “New Heights” podcast, where he described underwear as “unnecessary and problematic to the freedom my boys like to enjoy.”
But while Jason is technically going commando, his boys aren’t flying 100% free these days. That’s because he wears birddogs, a shorts brand known for its built-in-liner (and tongue-in-cheek marketing).
birddogs have a compression liner sewn into the shorts. The whole point is to provide the support guys typically get from underwear without wearing any underwear.
Turns out, birddogs was the first company to do the built-in liner thing. While the lululemon and Vuoris of the word have made their own lined shorts since then, no one has quite figured out how to make the liner as comfortable as birddogs. They have the compression guys like Jason need, without any of the tightness or squeezing of other lined shorts.
Since Jason was first spotted in birddogs, sales have exploded. An NFL legend wearing a brand is apparently more than enough to get folks pressing checkout.
One of our style editors, Joshua, was one of those people. When we asked him how he likes his new birddogs, he said “These things are comfortable. I don’t think I’m ready to go commando 24/7 like Jason Kelce, but I’ve already ordered another pair of birddogs so…I’m getting there.”
