Let’s see what Steve had to say!
Philips Norelco Review: Click & Style Razor Review
Hey guys, Steve here from Male Standard HQ.
Before we begin, I just want to say I’m not a professional barber or spokesman. I was handed a mystery box and told to report back with a real life review, and that’s what I’m here to do. I’m hoping this will help you work out if the Philips Norelco Trimmer is the right body groomer for you. What I will say is this isn’t a product for everyone, but if flexibility, quality, and budget are paramount, or you are new to grooming, then listen up.
What I Liked:
The Philips Norelco Razor was pretty much ready for use straight out of the box. It has an impressive feature which means you can plug it in for ten minutes on a dead battery, and be ready to shave right away; handy if you’re in a squeeze, or like me, tend to forget to charge razors all the time. You can use it wet or dry, (it’s totally shower proof), and works well with or without shaving cream making it dependable for daily use.
The razor itself was great, the blades were nice and sharp and had very little pulling or tugging throughout. The handle was comfortable, and had a ribbed non-slip grip which was handy for shaving with water or in the shower. It left a subtle, close shave on my face, which is good as I like the clean cut look and not all razors do that. I also liked that the heads clicked into place quickly and easily, stayed in place and that there were three to choose from (so I could go head-to-toe without switching tools, or getting out of the shower).
The goatee styling tool was one of the things that impressed me the most, it was actually one of the best tools I’ve ever used and gave a really clean cut shape. Ten out of ten for that! The body groomer option was also notable, which is surprising as many multipurpose razors seem to do one or the other, but never both. I didn’t have any irritation from the body groomer, and was able to get the job quickly. Good results.
What I Didn’t Like:
Maybe it was just me, getting used to a new razor, but there were a few areas that didn’t quite live up to expectations. I had a few patches of stubble on the neck left over, which also had some skin irritation (the only place). I had a few bumps there after shaving, which isn’t the end of the world but was kind of annoying. These were mostly on the neck, and maybe that had something to do with the two-head technology instead of three I’m used to?
I would like to see them focus more on the smoothness of the neck area as this is one place that needs delicate handling; razor bumps are something that shouldn’t be happening.
Would this stop me from using the Philips Norelco Razor again? No. I’m pretty sure it was just me getting used to the different heads, and if it wasn’t, at this price it’s an excellent body groomer that’s flexible and will help you get everywhere else in better shape. The goatee styling tool sealed the deal for me. The fact this is an easy to use, straight out of the box razor is good, but the ability to perform well from chest-to-toe was an added bonus making it quickly one of those great go-to gadgets.
- It’s easy to use
- Good value for money
- Simple to change heads
- Great multi-purpose tool
- Long lasting battery
- Did what it said right out of the box
Would I recommend this to other guys? Yes! When you keep in mind this is a body groomer and not a specific facial razor, you see its true potential shine. This is one of those tools every man should own, it’s there to hand, travels easily, is compact and gets the job done and quickly at that. You can use it anywhere on the body, or in the bathroom, and it has everything plugged in and ready to go. This is a great all-rounder that will get better, and for guys with goatees or styled beards, this is a must-have on its own merits.
