September 22 marks the Autumnal Equinox, a celestial occurrence that happens twice a year, marking the first day of the autumnal season. The Autumnal Equinox occurs when the sun crosses the celestial equator and creates a unique occurrence where the day and night are exactly the same length. Here in America, we tend to celebrate the official start of fall with apple cider, pumpkins and of course sipping on our native spirit, bourbon. So this autumn, be sure to bring this famed harvest festival to life in the Unites States by celebrating the Autumnal Equinox with Basil Hayden’s® Bourbon.

 

Basil Hayden’s® Equinox Spice

Ingredients:

 

  • 2 parts Basil Hayden’s® Bourbon
  • 3/4 parts Heering Cherry Liquor
  • 1 dash Aromatic Bitters
  • 2 parts Milk Stout Beer
  • Fresh Nutmeg

 

Method:

 

  • Combine Basil Hayden’s® Bourbon, cherry liquor and bitters in a mixing glass
  • Add ice and shake
  • Roll in the milk stout beer
  • Strain into an old fashioned glass with ice
  • Garnish with freshly grated nutmeg and cherry on top

 

Basil Hayden’s® Nine to Five Punch

Ingredients:

 

  • 12 parts Basil Hayden’s® Bourbon
  • 5 parts Pineapple Juice
  • 3½ Lemon Juice
  • 4 parts Maple Syrup
  • 5 dashes Bitters
  • 33 parts Club Soda

 

Method:

 

  • Add Basil Hayden’s® Bourbon, pineapple juice, lemon juice, maple syrup and bitters in a medium punch bowl
  • Stir ingredients until maple syrup has fully dissolved
  • Add a few large ice cubes, sparkling water and float lemon and pineapple slices on top

 

Basil Hayden’s® Bloody Sunday

Ingredients:

 

  • 1 1/2 parts Basil Hayden’s® Bourbon
  • 1/2 part Orange Juice
  • 1/2 part Grenadine
  • 1 dash Bitters
  • 1 barspoon of Crème de Violette
  • 1/2 Vanilla Bean

 

Method:

 

  • Shake bourbon, orange juice and bitters with ice
  • Strain into cordial glass
  • Sink the Creme de Violette and slowly drizzle grenadine over the top
  • Place one half of a split of vanilla bean in glass and stir
