If the thought of a man wearing makeup conjures up images of Jersey Shore and clowns, don’t worry, you are not alone. Men’s make up doesn’t have a very good reputation, but it is becoming more mainstream thanks to red carpet secrets that are spilling off the runway and into the hands of everyday guys.

I personally don’t wear make up every day, but there are times when I think it’s acceptable, and even encouraged to dabble in the artistry that is make up. The purpose of makeup, as the name suggests, is to make yourself in your best version. If I have a high end photoshoot, or am doing a video spot, you can bet that make up artists needs to do their work so I am presentable.

I think the first misconception is that men are wearing women’s make up, when the truth is there are many companies who create products just for men and our unique needs. I also think men are fearful of what we don’t know, and makeup up isn’t something that is readily taught in school.
