Initial deliveries of the highly anticipated 2017 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 pickup have begun. The first production trucks shipped from the Wentzville Assembly Center 40 miles west of St. Louis, Missouri, on Friday. Customers who placed early orders will begin receiving their trucks in May.

Among this first batch of vehicles is a Red Hot Crew Cab equipped with the 3.6L V-6 engine and eight-speed automatic transmission to be raced by Chad Hall of Hall Racing. This truck will make its competition debut in August in the Best in the Desert race series.

Colorado ZR2 Off-Road Truck Chapter 1: Desert Running

The brand-new Colorado ZR2 is an off-road truck of firsts. It offers the best of both worlds with serious off-road capability, yet rides smooth in the city. Take a look at how the Colorado ZR2 takes on the desert running at the Yuma Proving Ground in Arizona and a deep-sand evaluation at Silver Lake in Michigan.

Following its modifications, the truck will be used as a development vehicle in races at this year’s Best in the Desert series, including the General Tire Vegas to Reno presented by FOX on August 18 and 19 and the VT Construction Tonopah 250 presented by Polaris on October 19-22.

Colorado ZR2 Off-Road Truck Chapter 2: Tight Trails

Chevy Colorado ZR2 offers many advantages as a mid-size truck compared to full-size trucks when off-roading – including narrower width, shorter overall length and lower curb weight. Check out the Colorado ZR2 go through trails full size trucks can’t in the Badlands off-road park, crossing tight, technical trails.

See how the Colorado ZR2 off-road truck is ready for challenging rock crawling trails right from the factory. With standard equipment including functional rock sliders, increased wheel travel and class-exclusive front and rear electronic locking differentials, the ZR2 traversed the iconic Rubicon trail without any modifications.

These events will help provide an excellent validation test of Chevrolet Performance Parts being developed for Colorado owners looking to customize their vehicles for improved off-road performance.
