Penfolds, Australia’s leading winemaker, is proudly celebrating 25 years of service. To commemorate the occasion, Penfolds brought their highly-esteemed Recorking Clinic to select markets in North America, specifically, New York City, Miami, Vancouver, and Los Angeles. Guests were invited to quality check the Penfolds red wine aged fifteen years or older and were offered an exclusive recorking service for wine while chatting and enjoying the ambiance of the local wine enthusiasts.
This unique proposal saw their Recorking Clinic engage with wine enthusiasts, enabling them to open and visually inspect Penfolds wine with talented winemakers; guests were walked through how to check the top up, certify, and then how to re-capsule their prized bottles, arresting any further deterioration due to leakage or low levels. This mission demonstrates Penfold’s commitment to comprehensive after sales service and sees the brand move to a global reputation.
A Toast to 25 Years of Excellence
While this event series sounds entirely unique, and it is, to most winemakers, it’s a matter of course for Penfolds, who after 25 years, continue to transcend expectations. Penfolds has been providing its famed Recorking Clinic service to collectors around the world since 1991 and has since recorked over 130,000 bottles, all certified since the program’s inception. Wine owners must make a booking, where esteemed Penfold’s winemaking team members will be on-hand to expertly assess each registered bottle.
“After 25 years, the Recorking Clinics continue to amaze and evolve, transcending all our expectations,” says Penfold’s Chief Winemaker, Peter Gago. “The notion that every bottle has a story continues to reign true. As winemakers, it is so meaningful and rewarding to meet collectors and share their personal story of their wine’s unique journey. Professionally it is gratifying to witness the ongoing quality of rare treasures that span so many decades, each one adding to the unfinished story that is Penfolds.”
Alongside the wine assessment, Penfolds hosted an opportunity for guests to meet with a winemaker, who recounted the Recorking Clinic story, and history of their wine; and gave wine enthusiasts an up-close and personal encounter to discuss drinking windows to cellaring recommendations. The bottles were then recorked and certified and signed Peter Gago, Penfolds Chief Winemaker or Steve Lienert, Penfolds Snr Red Winemaker.
An optional valuation service was also provided onsite by Christie’s Auction House. To find out more, please visit Penfolds online.
