Just as your work clothes differ from your lounge-wear, your dating clothes should differ from the clothes you wear to hang out with the guys. By taking just a few minutes to review your outfit, you might just earn that second date.
1. No Flip-flops
Under no circumstances should you wear flip-flops to a first date. The same rule applies to ratty tennis shoes. Loafers, light tennis shoes and even boots are fine. If you are wearing jeans, most shoes will match your outfit. Throwing in just a splash of color on the feet is also a great idea.
2. Clothes That Fit
You should never wear clothes that are too loose or too tight. So many men show up to dates without a clue that they are wearing ill-fitting shirts. This just sends the message that you do not care. Slim fit shirts, and skinny jeans are a must for today’s fashion. Women are sure to notice whether or not you’re keeping up with the latest fashion trends.
3. Wear Some Color
You should spruce up each of your outfits with a small amount of color. When a men’s clothing company like Reem basics, it’s so much easier to shop online and find great deals on colorful shirts with a vintage wash. These colors are perfect for adding personality to your outfit without being too flashy. You do not want to show up in all black or neutral colors. This sends the idea that you are boring.
4. Pay Attention To The Details
Playing up just one or two details can make your outfit significantly more interesting. A pair of patterned socks or cuff links will show that you put more than just a couple minutes of thought into your presentation.
5. Get Rid of the Stripes
You can stick with your fashion basics and simple button-up shirts for your date. Stand out with a solid shirt or one with a subtle pattern. Forgo the stripe look because it is all too common. Even a plain polo shirt is a better choice.
6. Wear Jeans
A first date is no place for dress pants (unless it’s a formal date) or khakis. Skinny jeans are the perfect compromise between dressy and casual as far as a casual meet-up goes. They are sexier than the casual work vibe that khakis put off, especially for a drink at the bar or a coffee meeting.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with going out of your way to look good for a date, especially if it is a first meeting. You need to give off the impression that you put time and effort into getting ready. Your date does not want to think that you just showed up after rolling out of bed or working out.
