7 Easy Ways To Get Rid Of Dry Skin Naturally

Having dry skin can be itchy, rough and unpleasant. More often than not, using all sorts of creams and lotions does not help at all. At most, creams and lotions provide temporary relief but having to apply them again and again can be troublesome. Natural remedies can go a long way towards providing relief from the roughness, flakiness, and itchiness of dry skin.

Aloe Vera Gel

When using aloe vera, it is best to use the natural plant gel and not the commercially available preparations whenever possible. The leaf or the plant is the source of the gel. You simply need to cut a portion of the leaf (crosswise) and scoop out a small amount of the gel. Apply the get on your face and skin and leave it on for 30 minutes if possible. You need not rinse it off as it is transparent and provides your skin with a protective layer from dust and other impurities. Aloe vera gel is also very effective in relieving sun burn.

Cucumber

Cucumber is a very good natural moisturizer and is readily available. To use cucumber to relieve dry skin, make a paste using one cucumber and then apply it on your face and skin. Leave the paste for about half an hour and rinse off. Your skin will show visible signs of relief within a week or two.

Yoghurt

Yoghurt is well known for being a tasty way of staying healthy. It also contains a large amount of anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that can be beneficial to the skin. Simply mix yoghurt with a bit of honey and apply it on your face as a mask. Leave it on for about 10 minutes and then rinse it off. You will see a marked difference within a few days.

Banana

Bananas can be a great natural remedy for dry skin. Mash one banana, preferably ripe, and apply it on your face. Leave the mask for 30 minutes and then rinse it off. You can also use the banana peel because it contains antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. Rub the banana peel on your dry skin and feel the difference.

Oatmeal

Aside from being a healthy breakfast food, oatmeal can also work miracles on your skin. Oatmeal helps to reduce skin irritation, inflammation, and prevents flaking of the skin.  It is also very easy to use. Simply grind the oatmeal in a blender or mixer until it becomes a fine powder and mix with water to make a paste. Apply the paste on the affected skin and feel immediate relief. Leave it on for about 10 minutes and rinse off. You can also add the oatmeal powder to your bathwater and enjoy a relaxing soak. This helps to relieve dry skin, irritation, flakiness, and skin inflammation. It also relieves skin problems like eczema.

Natural Oils

Natural oils like coconut oil, almond oil, peanut oil or olive oil can help relieve dry skin. Simply massage some of the oil on your skin, preferably after warming it up just a little. Do this prior to taking a bath and leave it on for about 10 minutes. The oil helps your skin retain moisture even after your bath.

Egg Yolk

Mix the yolk of one egg with a teaspoon of olive oil and a few drops of either lemon or lime juice to make a paste. Apply the paste on your face and leave it on for 15 minutes then rinse off. You will feel the difference immediately.
