How To Remove Back Hair

I’m not a huge proponent of the new trend in manscaping (hairy men are hot), but I do think back hair is pretty unsightly.  If you decide to remove any hair it should definitely be your back hair, especially if you have a little forest growing back there.  But that’s just my opinion.

There are several professional options for how to remove back hair.  The most common back hair removal options are laser hair removal, electrolysis or a back wax.  Laser hair removal is very expensive (up to $500 per treatment) but is a good investment because it is a permanent solution for hair removal.  You’ll just need to get touch-ups annually.  Electrolysis is a similar permanent treatment, but much cheaper ($50 per treatment average).  However, it is very time-consuming as only small areas can be treated at a time and may end up costing a lot in the long run.  Waxes are probably the best way to go if you want to get your back hair removed professionally.  These will probably cost about $40-$60 and will need to be redone every 4-6 weeks.

There is also the option of removing your back hair at home.  Here’s how:

  1. Purchase a back hair extension shaver.  The MANGROOMER Do-It-Yourself Electric Back Shaver is probably your best bet for this.  These can be found online or in stores for around $25.00.
  2. Position yourself between two relatively large mirrors.  The mirror that is behind you will reflect into the front mirror, allowing you to see your back.
  3. Wash your back with warm water.  You may have to go into the shower to do this.
  4. Lather up with shaving cream before beginning.  Make sure to put on a liberal amount so you don’t cut yourself.  This is especially important when shaving your back since you can’t see as clearly as you do when shaving other areas.
  5. Begin shaving.  Shave as you would any other area:  go in the direction of hair growth and continue until you have removed all the unwanted hair.
  6. Rinse with cool water and rub a soothing lotion on your back.  Something with aloe works best.
  7. Repeat every three days to a week.
