Co-founder and CEO Hunter Wilson announces today the launch of men’s sportswear label, Vera Largo. The label aims to bring functionality, accessibility and fun to the forefront of menswear by creating wearable and thoughtful garments for the millennial man. Vera Largo unveiled its Spring/Summer 2015 collection, guest designed by seasoned menswear designer David Cockrell, July 21, 2014 during men’s market week in New York.
Vera Largo (the literal translation is true and slow) melds the personalities of Wilson along with fellow co-founders Beau Hansen, Chase Rodgers and Cole Wilson, who have drawn inspiration from their coastal Texas home base to create the line of elevated basics. At its core, the brand is aimed at consumers who value clothing made with a sense of integrity, yet remains modern and versatile. “We had been scouring the country to find a designer that could translate our vision into reality. David’s unique design aesthetic along with his vast experience in the men’s wear landscape ensured us that he was the man for the job,” said Hunter Wilson, co-founder and CEO. “David’s design ethos aligns perfectly with the casual cool vibe of Vera Largo.”
For Spring/Summer 2015, Cockrell will introduce distinctive textures and fabrics to appeal to the discerning Vera Largo customer. David Cockrell’s resume includes senior designer stints at GAP and Abercrombie & Fitch as well as the title of creative director at Andrew Marc. He has also consulted for Simon Miller, Todd Snyder, Woolrich and Lightning Bolt. “I’m elated to have been given the opportunity to lend my artistic vision to the Vera Largo brand,”said guest designer, David Cockrell. “This collection, with its blue based color story, embraces the sea in a clean presentation of modern style, setting the tone for the brand moving forward.” In addition to the signature Vera Largo Dive Short, initial offerings from the brand will consist of polo shirts, trousers, outerwear and accessories in bold color palettes and imaginative prints.
Prices will range from $48 for t-shirts to $388 for sport coats.
While Wilson acts as CEO for the Vera Largo brand, the three additional founding partners remain an integral part of the company, handling marketing, logistics and customer service at the Texas and New York facilities.
