Last week, I got to hang out with my lovely wife, and lifestyle and family expert Laura Dahl (@lauradahl) to do some good old-fashioned DIY. Confession: I’ve never really been much of a DIYer, but with the help of Laura and @GMC (who lent me their 2017 Canyon Denali), we embarked on a DIY challenge with an optimistic outlook.

Like Male Standard, GMC celebrates people who passionately live life to a higher standard. For nearly 20 years, GMC has established a strong reputation with “We Are Professional Grade.” GMC owners demand vehicles that are designed, engineered and built to a higher standard.

The 2017 Canyon Denali takes all the features you love of a premium mid-size pickup and adds distinctive styling, and a luxurious interior as standard. Whether you’re in the DIY market to build a new bookshelf, or to rehab an old piece of furniture, the GMC Canyon Denali offers lots of smart features to help you get the job done.

Shopping for a Professional Grade

Our first stop was Habitat for Humanity, where we scoured the aisles for salvageable goods. I found some cool hardware that we decided would be the perfect finishing touches on a toy box for our daughter. Our next destination was our local Home Depot, where we stopped to pick up lumber and painting tools.

I loved how much space the GMC Canyon Denali had to offer, and how easy it was to maneuver through the city despite being in a pickup truck. The GMC also features an IntelliLink infotainment system with navigation, OnStar, and is the first mid-size pickup truck to offer a built-in 4G LTE Wi-Fi connection.

The GMC Canyon Denali also features:

  • Spray on bedliner
  • EZ-Lift and Lower Tailgate to transport cargo easily
  • Integrated CornerStep rear bumper for easy access to the box
  • Available upper tie-downs, can be placed in 13 locations
  • Available accessories to help manage cargo of all shapes and sizes

Back at home, we unloaded hardware, rental tools, some fun extras we found on our trip and set up a workshop in the backyard. Laura showed my wife and I some neat tricks on how to use the power tools to get a professional finish. And, before long, we found ourselves having fun and DIYing with great results.

In the end, we decided to finish the toy chest with chalk paint, so that our daughter could add her own flair to it. I was surprised at how much fun DIY can be, and how easy it is when you have the space and accessibility to collect hardware items (thanks, GMC!). If you’re looking for an easy way to load up on your next adventure, GMC offers a pro-grade ride!
