How To Use a Self Tanner For Men

It’s not just for Dancing with the Stars cast anymore, self tanner is a great way to get that sun-kissed glow that you have been looking for – minus the risk of skin cancer that comes with a natural tan.  A healthy, natural glow is something we have all been looking for and it’s time to finally get it for ourselves.

Why Do You Need A Self Tanner?

To get that natural, healthy glow a self tanner is the perfect way to get the look you are after quickly and effortlessly.  When applied properly, a self tanner gives you a light, natural looking tan that can enhance your good looks.  And it doesn’t take that long or that much expertise to apply a self tanning product properly.

How to Choose the Right Self Tanner for You?

Look for a bronzer, lotion, or self tanning spray.  Each of these has its strong points and its drawbacks.  A bronzer is great if you want to test out how self tanners work, because it washes away after each use.  Take a good shower and the golden glow is gone.  A bronzer is a great way for beginners to try out tanning and not worry about permanent results.

Lotions are applied just like a moisturizer and you will need to pay extra attention to dry areas like elbows, knees, etc.  It can take a few minutes to a few hours to notice the change in your skin, but the lotion will give you a golden glow for up to a month.  Great if you don’t want to hassle with a product every day, but this is better suited to someone who wants that golden glow year round and is comfortable applying the product on their own.

A spray self tan is done in a tanning salon primarily and can give you an even coating of whatever shade of tan you are looking for.

How to make your personal self tanner look natural and flawless?

  1.  Exfoliate before self tanning – get rid of all the dead skin so you can take on the glow evenly.
  2. Moisturize after self tanning, a good moisturizer can prevent the skin from absorbing the self tanner and leave the look uneven, which is never a good thing.
  3. Give the tanner plenty of time to absorb into the skin before showering or working out – sweating can cause the bronzing agent to lose its effect.
