Lumina Introduces Made-in-the-USA Denim

Raleigh, NC-based Lumina Clothing Company introduces its Garment Dyed Polo, made entirely in the Carolinas. The piece is the first in the brand’s Carolina Collection, a micro line that is both a nod to the region’s rich textile history and culture. Just in time for summer’s dog days, the super-soft, six ounce jersey knit garment is knitted in Spartanburg, South Carolina and constructed in Durham, North Carolina. It is then dyed and tumbled in Raleigh, a process that results in a shirt that feels like a cozy old favorite. Further comfort is added through a collar band that merges collar and placket and reducing seams. Did we mention these polos are soft? Because they are incredibly out-of-this-world, soft. The comfort is unprecedented, and is akin to your all-time fave polo having been beaten into shape for a decade, right out of the bag. Now that’s what we call craftsmanship.

Most southern polos gravitate towards using pique, but we wanted something a little more casual and versatile,” says Barton Strawn, Lumina’s Co-founder and Principal Designer. It’s perfect for the mountains or the coast, or to just replace that favorite Saturday t-shirt.

Lumina Made-in-the-USA Denim

A Raleigh, North Carolina-based company, Lumina is dedicated to producing quality, upscale-casual clothing made entirely in the USA. Lumina was born when a group of friends, armed with a sewing machine and a keen sartorial sense, created small-batch neckwear after growing frustrated with traditional store offerings. Soon, requests poured in as the hand-crafted pieces began drawing acclaim. Seeing the overwhelming need to offer style-conscious consumers domestic apparel at an attractive price, Lumina was officially launched in 2009. After three years of selling online, in November 2012, the brand opened its first retail location in downtown Raleigh.

The result is a line of products that not only look and feel great, but is socially responsible as well,” says Strawn. “We all grew up in the Carolinas and want to ensure we’re doing all we can to minimize our impact on this beautiful area.

In addition to celebrating the South, Lumina is also trying to reduce its environmental impact with the Carolina Collection. By creating everything in North and South Carolina, the brand reduces its footprint. Each Lumina garment is meticulously crafted with the utmost attention to detail. Clean silhouettes with an emphasis on tailored comfort move seamlessly from the office to weekend wear. Tops, bottoms and accessories from the label are meant work in concert to offer an attainable American wardrobe. Male Standard was truly impressed with the level of craftsmanship, and found the polos to be of excellent fit and super soft. The detailing dresses these shirts up for an effortless late-summer attire that is both comfortable as it is stylish.
